After graduating from Sidney Sussex College Cambridge with a degree in Law and the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst Jamie served for seven years in the Coldstream Guards. In 2001 in left the Army and joined Berry, Palmer and Lyle (BPL), rx a specialist trade credit and political risk insurance broker.
Jamie’s father, Sir Paul Newall, was diagnosed with cancer in July 2014 and died in July 2015. Jamie was lucky enough to be able to take a three-month sabbatical from his work to help care for his father during his palliative treatment. It was his experiences during this time that led him to apply for the position of voluntary Chief Executive Officer of Oracle Cancer Trust. He was appointed CEO in October 2016 on the retirement of Anthony Sykes.
Head of Marketing and Operations
I first heard about Oracle Cancer Trust when my husband was undergoing treatment for cancer of the larynx. Head and neck cancer is such an invasive and debilitating disease and I was struck by the dedication of everyone in the organisation wanting to help tackle this cancer and discover newer and kinder treatments.
I have been working in the not for profit sector for several years, prior to that I worked in the City in senior marketing and PR roles for companies including MasterCard, NCR and BUPA.
Head of Fundraising
I have been working with charities to help them build relationships with people who can help them achieve their goals for over 20 years. My career to date has been varied, with both large household names to smaller, niche causes, working with all kinds of incredible supporters. From giving school talks, supporting intrepid runners, skydivers and energetic fundraisers of all sorts, through to the world of high value giving, I love getting to spend time with the people who join forces to make great things happen.
Enthusiasm is contagious and I have been privileged to work with extremely generous business leaders, families and Trusts and Foundations. As a result, I now specialise in building the mutually rewarding, long-term partnerships that help charities increase their impact and create a lasting legacy for donors too and look forward to meeting supporters who help Oracle Cancer Trust achieve such great things in the field of research into head and neck cancer.
Medical Communications and Research Officer
I graduated with a Masters degree in Chemistry in 2012. Since then I have gained experience in a variety of different roles, including in restaurants, in medical market research, environmental consultancy, and financial marketing.
