Appointed golf club captain for the 2017 season, Nick chose Oracle as a cause close to his heart following his daughter Kimberley’s diagnosis of head and neck cancer at the young age of 25.

Says Nick, “After a successful year as Captain of Blacknest Golf Club, I had the pleasure of handing over a cheque, with a little bit of help from my grandson, to Sarah Bender from Oracle Cancer Trust.  I chose Oracle Cancer Trust as my Captain’s Charity of the Year following my daughter Kimberley’s diagnosis of head and neck cancer at the young age of 25.  Kimberley has since made a full recovery, and it was thanks to Oracle’s pioneering research into head and neck cancer that gave her the best possible treatment. Despite having never organised any charity events, during my year as Captain I held a successful Captain’s golf day and organised a race night at Blacknest Golf Club.  My initial target was to raise £3,000, but I have been overwhelmed by the support of golfing colleagues, friends and family, and with the help of the team at Oracle Cancer Trust, I superseded that and managed to raise over £4,500.”
