Oracle’s 2017 London Marathon runner Ian Mitchell braved one of the coldest days of the year to raise funds for Oracle to boost his fundraising target of £2,500 with family and friends. Ian chose to run for Oracle in memory of his stepfather, Neil, who had a long battle with throat cancer and sadly passed away in 2014.
Says Ian, “Throughout a very difficult time Neil was an inspiration to me, dignified at all times and he did not once complain despite his suffering. The London Marathon gives me the opportunity to give something back, to help others who are suffering as Neil did and this will be through a fantastic charity, The Oracle Cancer Trust, the UK’s leading head and neck research charity which funds early stage pioneering research.”
As well the Charity bucket shake that raised just under £300, Ian also organised a hugely successful charity race night which resulted in over £750 of donations to boost his fundraising total that stands at just over £2,500.
