John Wilkinson

Tribute to John Wilkinson

Diagnosed with an aggressive, large and rare form of sinus cancer in 2017, an avid cancer advocate and author of 'Face Cancer', John Wilkinson has lost his battle with cancer.

It is with great sadness that we learned recently that our friend John Wilkinson passed away on Christmas Day. Our thoughts are very much with his family.

John was utterly committed to using his diagnosis as a tool to help others and spread the word about head and neck cancer. He wrote the Face Cancer book and perhaps most importantly, talked about it in the press and took it on tour, talking to hundreds of people about what it is like to be diagnosed with head and neck cancer, debunking myths, explaining signs and symptoms. Showing by example that it is possible to achieve incredible things despite his diagnosis.

And John kept this up even while receiving palliative care; sharing his experiences and supporting charities through it all. We’re so grateful that Oracle Cancer Trust was one of the many charities he supported through the proceeds of his Face Cancer Book.

John's wife Jane is committed to continuing his good charity work and keeping the 'Face Cancer Fund' alive, and has an event planned with John's previous employer HSBC. We at Oracle Cancer Trust are very honoured to have received donations from his funeral which we will use to support our pioneering research.

Thank you, John for everything. Rest easy.
