Walking the North Downs Way in Memory of Dad

It was a day to remember him and to appreciate the natural world around us; something which was so important to him. Peter surprised us all when he retired from a career in law to become a shepherd! He taught himself how to rear Shetland sheep on his farm in South East Kent and bred them successfully for 13 years. He did not rear them for meat, but appreciated each and every one of them as pets! When he needed to sell a sheep, he would always try to send them to new homes so they could have a long and happy life.

Despite being ill, Dad was dedicated to farming and it really kept him going. We are keeping his favourite sheep Elderflower, Puzzle and some other favourites and the farm will continue to be a peaceful haven for his flock! We chose to fundraise for Oracle Cancer Trust because they are the UK's leading charity raising funds for research into Head and Neck cancers and Dad's consultant, who he respected enormously, recommended the charity. As soon as we spoke to the team at Oracle Cancer Trust, we knew we had picked the right charity.
